Savvy Panelists Share Insights on Developing, Conducting & Promoting a Supreme Court Practice

On July 19, Capital Appellate Advocacy founder Larry Ebner moderated an expert panel on how to develop, conduct, and promote a U.S. Supreme Court practice.  The panel was part of the annual Appellate Advocacy Seminar sponsored by DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar.  The seminar, held in Chicago, was co-chaired by Sarah Spencer of Christensen & Jensen,  and Adam Hofmann of HansonBridgett.

•  Larry Ebner, an independent appellate advocate who represents businesses and industries in the Supreme Court and other courts, introduced the panel. He  emphasized that appellate specialists throughout the United States are well qualified to handle the vast majority of Supreme Court work, which is in written form.

•  Matt Nelson, Supreme Court & Appellate Practice leader at Warner, Norcross & Judd LLP, described how he confronts the challenges involved in attracting Supreme Court work.

 Karen Pierangeli, President of Byron S. Adams Printers, discussed how attorneys can work cost-effectively with a highly experienced Supreme Court printer to produce top-quality filings.

•  Kim Proxmire, Legal Marketing & Brand Strategy Consultant at Indigo Marketing Group LLC/ FINN Partners, explained the importance of attorneys defining their own individual brands through professional speaking and writing and use of websites and social media.
